FOOTBALL, 1966-67
Tom Oberg set the standard for defensive backs at Portland State during his two-year career. Oberg intercepted 12 passes during his two seasons which still ranks seventh in PSU history. Oberg was a team leader as a captain and earned the team’s Most Inspirational Player award as a senior. Following his stellar collegiate career, Oberg became the first Viking to play in the National Football League. Oberg played for the Denver Broncos as well as Winnipeg of the Canadian Football League and the Portland Storm and Thunder of the World Football League.
