WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL, 1982-85
Lynda Johnson was a true superstar in a program that has produced numerous stars over the years. She became the nation’s first four-time NCAA Division II Volleyball All-American. Johnson led PSU to national tournament all four years, winning the National Championships in 1984 and 1985, finishing second in 1983 and third in 1982. She was named Portland State’s Female Athlete of the Year three times and became the first female athlete at PSU to have her number retired (7). Johnson competed for Team USA following her PSU career and also played professionally. She was inducted into the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame in 1995.
