PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland State men's tennis will kick off its Big Sky Conference slate Saturday (Feb. 28), hosting Montana State at 10:00 a.m. at the Tualatin Hills Tennis Center.
The Vikings closed their opening stretch of non-conference play with a 3-6 record, sweeping George Fox, UC Santa Cruz and Lewis-Clark State College.
Sophomore Maas Schotanus leads the Vikings in singles, entering the weekend with a perfect 4-0 record, including wins at lines two and three. Freshmen Aarjun Pandit and Ignacio Ruiz pace the Vikings in doubles with a 4-2 mark as a duo. Both also have three singles wins entering Saturday, with all of Pandit's coming at the No. 1 spot.
Saturday's match marks the conference opener for both the Vikings and the Bobcats (3-4), though Montana State did face Idaho State earlier this season in a non-conference matchup. Portland State hasn't beaten MSU since 2021 and is seeking its fifth all-time victory over the Bobcats.
