Aarjun Pandit, Maas Schotanus Advance to Quarterfinals of Doubles Draw at ITA Northwest Regional

SEATTLE, Wash. — Aarjun Pandit. Remember the name. The Vikings' star sophomore beat a Power 4 opponent in Stanford University's Mark Krupkin to advance to the round of 32 at the ITA Northwest Regionals, while he and doubles partner Maas Schotanus are in the final eight of the main doubles draw.

In singles, Pandit snagged a close first set against Krupkin, 6-4, then won an even tighter second set in a tiebreaker, 8-6. In the round of 32, Pandit pushed Sohan Purohit from the University of Washington to a third set Saturday with a 6-3 win in the second set. But Purhoit recovered to eliminate Pandit with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 win.

In doubles, Pandit qualified for the quarterfinals alongside Schotanus Saturday. After a bye into the round of 32 then a walkover into the round of 16, the pair upset fourth-seeded Melchior Delloye and Andrea Meduri from Cal, 8-4, to advance to tomorrow's quarterfinal. They are now set to face Oregon's Dan Hughes and Declan Galligan.

Elsewhere, after excellent day one showings, juniors Luca Prino and Vit Petcov were eliminated from the main draw. They played exceptionally well to make their way to the main draw but fell to the elite competition that ITA Northwest Regional has to offer. Stanford's Nicholas Godsick beat Prino, 6-1, 6-2, while Petcov went down in similar fashion to Gonzaga's Oscar Rashed, 6-2, 6-0.

Petcov and Edoardo Cravanzola advanced to the round of 16 in the doubles draw behind a pair of quality wins. They beat Pacific's duo of Samuel Bautista and Hasith Gummuluru in their first match, 8-5. They then upset the ninth-seeded team of Leonardo Cattaneo and Winston Wooin Lee, 8-6, in the round of 32.

Their journey ended in the round of 16, however, as they fell to eighth-seeded Ferran Redza and Luca Lemaitre Vilchis from Santa Clara, 8-3.

Senior Hampus Hagglund and Prino advanced to the round of 32 after knocking out Arham Mefta and Gian Manhas of the University of Portland, 8-7 (4). There, they ran into the third-seeded team of Lenn Luemkemann and Paris Pouatcha from Cal, and fell 8-5.
