BEAVERTON, Ore. – The Portland State men's tennis team took care of business Saturday afternoon, beating Lewis–Clark State College 7-0 at the Tualatin Hills tennis center.
The Vikings (3-6) secured the doubles point over the Warriors (4-4) to open the match. At the No. 1 spot, Maas Schotanus and Edoardo Cravanzola earned a 7-5 victory over Nell Rollin and Leonel Gatti. The freshman pair of Aarjun Pandit and Ignacio Ruiz clinched the point for the Vikings with a 6-4 win over Kevin Lu and Louam Boivin.
The Vikings went on to sweep singles play with five straight-set wins and a tiebreaker victory from Pandit at No. 1. Schotanus improved to 4-0 on the year with a 6-3, 7-6 win over Boivin. Luca Prino (No. 3), Cravanzola (No. 4), Ruiz (No. 5) and Hampus Hägglund (No. 6) rounded out the sweep to close the day.
The Vikings return to action next weekend with their conference opener against Montana State on Saturday, Feb. 28 at the Tualatin Hills Tennis Center (10:00 a.m.).
