PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland State men's tennis team returns to their home court this weekend, ready to kick off a five-match homestand with matches against Lewis & Clark and Sacramento State at the Tualatin Hills Tennis Center.
Â
Looking to improve their 1-4 record, the Vikings will take the court Saturday at 10:00 AM against Lewis & Clark. This match presents an opportunity for them to fine-tune their play before facing Sacramento State on Sunday for their first of eight conference matches this season.
Saturday's dual against the Pioneers will be familiar for both teams, as they've faced each other in five of the last six seasons, with the Vikings sweeping every encounter.
Meanwhile, the Hornets are coming off an impressive 17-win season in 2024. However, they've only played three matches so far in 2025 and enter the weekend with a losing record of 1-2 overall.
Â
All six Vikings have secured singles victories this season, with
Simon Kuszynski leading the team at 2-2. In doubles play, PSU has proven they can compete with anyone, winning the opening point in two of their matches so far, including a two-win performance against BYU last weekend.
Â
Looking ahead, the Vikings will conclude their homestand with back-to-back non-conference matches next weekend against George Fox (Feb. 15) and Linfield (Feb. 16). They will then return to conference action by hosting Northern Arizona on March 1 to wrap up their stretch at the Tualatin Hills Tennis Center.
