Box Score BEAVERTON, Ore. - The Portland State men's tennis team took care of business against George Fox on Sunday afternoon, picking up their second sweep of the year with a 7-0 victory at the Tualatin Hills Tennis Center.

The Vikings improved to 3-3 on the year ahead of next week's conference opener. The Bruins fell to 1-2.

The Vikings were solid in all aspects Saturday, opening the match with dominant doubles play.
Andrea Brignacca and
Jan Semerak defeated Vahag Pashayan and Lars Schmassmann at line one while
Luka Jovanovic and
Hubert Theriault posted the same score against  Jackson Whittaker and Alle Banna on court three.
Simon Kuszynski and
Hembo Mathiasen were ahead 5-4 when the opening point was clinched.
The Vikings picked up straight-set wins in five of six singles matches, the other came from a Bruin retirement.
Hayden Elliott and
Hubert Theriault made quick work of their Bruin opponents at lines for and six, respectively. Elliott posted a 6-2, 6-1 win over Whittaker while Theriault defeated Schmassmann 6-2, 6-2. Mathiasen also won handily, claiming a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Hunter Fujimori on court three.

Brignacca and Jovanovic finished things off on the top two courts. Brignacca secured his first win at the No. 1 spot this season with 6-1, 6-4 victory over Eli Mizerski. Jovanovic kept his record perfect, improving to 4-0 on the year with a 6-3, 6-4 defeat of Pashayan at line two.

The Vikings' sixth singles win came on court five when Kusynski's opponent retired.

Holding a .500 record, Portland State will open conference action next weekend with back-to-back home matches. They'll host Montana State on Saturday, Feb. 24 followed by Eastern Washington on Sunday, Feb. 25. Both matches are set for 10 a.m. at the Tualatin Hills Tennis Center.
