Palm Desert, CA – The Portland State Vikings won their consolation match over Southern Utah on the final day of the Mountain Classic Match Play tournament at The Classic Club.
 
Tya Seth and Mariana Garcia Rosette highlighted the Vikings' effort with dominant 7 and 6 victories in their two matches. Tannica Porter took a 4 and 3 win to put the Vikings ahead 3-0 in the five matches with two to be completed.
 
At that point, Payten Shimizu was two-up in her match with five holes to play while Bayler Brundage was one-down with four holes remaining. However, the Southern Utah team decided to discontinue play in the final two matches once it was determined the Vikings had captured the team victory.
 
Portland State went 1-2 in its three match-play competitions over two days at the Mountain Classic Match Play, taking seventh place. With two close team losses on Monday (both 3-2) and the win on Tuesday (5-0), the Vikings' individual records were 7-6 (9-6 including the two match forfeitures).

Nevada won the team championship with a convincing 4-0-1 win over Northern Arizona. Boise State defeated Montana State for third place, 3-1-1, and Seattle beat Wyoming 3-1-1 for fifth place.
