Maddie Dustin set a pretty high bar in her first event as a Portland State Viking on Monday, shooting even par 72-72=144 through the first 36 holes of the Yellowstone Intercollegiate Golf Tournament. Dustin, a sophomore transfer, scattered seven birdies over her two rounds and is tied for 11th place with one round remaining at Riverside Country Club.

Scoring was good despite cool, damp weather as host Montana State has taken the team lead. The Bobcats shot scores of 282-285 for a nine-under par 567 total. CSUN is eight shots behind in second place at 575 and Gonzaga sits at 577.

Portland State shot 299 in its opening round of the season. That is just one stroke off the season best in all of 2024-25. The Vikings posted 304 in the afternoon round and are in eighth place among 11 teams competing. PSU is fourth among six Big Sky schools in the field.

MSU's Eva Heinz had a remarkable opening round of 62 for the Bobcats, making nine birdies and an eagle. Heinz shot 73 in the second round and has the tournament lead at -9 as well. Ten players finished the day under par.

Cynthia Valerie Ong also posted an even-par 72 in the opening round. She shot 77 in round two and is tied for 26
th at 149.
