Box Score Portland, OR – Portland State took a second-straight 6-1 victory on consecutive days on their home court, Tualatin Hills Tennis Center, beating Pacific University on Saturday morning.
 
The Vikings beat George Fox on Friday afternoon, giving them a pair of wins in the space of 24 hours.
 
PSU improved its record to 4-3 on the season, 4-0 at home. That's good news for the Vikings as they were playing just the third of nine straight home matches. The Vikings open Big Sky Conference play next Friday against Sacramento State at Tualatin Hills.
 
The final score was definitive, but Portland State had to work hard to get the doubles point. All eyes were on the number-two doubles match as the teams split the first two doubles matches at one and three. The Vikings' Jonas Hembo Mathiasen and Simon Kuszynski outlasted Koby Murata and Aidan Rooney of Pacific, 6-4 to pull out the doubles point. Mathiasen and Kuszynski are 4-1 in doubles play this season.
 
Portland State went on to get singles wins at the two through six positions from Jan Semerak, Luka Jovanic, Mathiasen, Gregory Gruenig and Andrin Zuellig. All came in straight sets.
 
For the second day in a row, Andrea Brignacca played a lengthy three-set match at number one. After a Friday win he took the loss on Saturday to Pacific's Mason Tran, 1-6, 6-4, 4-6.
