Vikings Fall to GCU in Weekend Finale

Box Score Santa Barbara, Calif. – The Portland State men's tennis team dropped its weekend finale 6-1 to Grand Canyon in a neutral site dual in Santa Barbara on Sunday.  
 
The Lopes improved to 1-3 on the year while Portland State fell to 0-2.
 
GCU clinched the opening point over Portland State with a pair of doubles wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions. Andrea Brignacca and Luka Jovanovich fell 6-1 to Jonathan De Silva and David Wekesa at the top court. Grand Canyon's Loic Van Zeggelaar and Paolo Rosati finished things off with a 6-3 victory on court three.
 
The Lopes added five more points in singles action to clinch the match. Gregory Gruenig pulled off the Vikings' first singles point of the season, beating Paolo Rosati 6-3, 7-6 at the No. 5 spot.  
 
The Vikings will return to action this weekend, beginning with a Friday home dual against Lewis & Clark at Tualatin Hills (4 pm).
