Vikings Back In Action on Friday in Eugene

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland State's men's tennis team will be back in action for the first time in over two weeks on Friday when they take on the University of Oregon in Eugene (6:30 p.m.).

The Vikings are 3-8 overall and 1-3 in Big Sky play after picking up their first conference win over Eastern Washington on Friday, March 11.

Vikings senior Nils Plutat earned his first career Big Sky Player of the Week honor on March 15 after going 2-0 at No. 1 singles against Eastern Washington and Montana State. Plutat enters Friday with a 4-6 record in singles play, after winning two of his last three matches.

Sophomore Oliver Richards also has four wins on the season, as he enters the weekend with a 4-7 record at the two and three spots. Richards picked up his first career Big Sky win against EWU, with a 6-2, 7-5 win at No. 3 on March 11.

Sam De Vries played some of his best tennis of the season three weekends ago, claiming back-to-back Big Sky singles wins at No. 4 over Eastern Washington's Erik Sarlvik (6-1, 6-3) and Montana State's Brad Buckland (4-6, 6-4, 7-6(5)).

SCOUTING OREGON

The Ducks are 9-7 overall and 0-2 in conference action. They've won three of their last five duals, claiming victories over Portland (4-2), Montana State (4-0), and Nebraska (4-3). The Ducks will take on USC on Friday at 1:30 p.m. before their dual against the Vikings.

The Vikings are 0-13 all-time against the Ducks, losing their most recent match 7-0 in Eugene on February 16, 2021.
