PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland State men's tennis team has added Simon Kuszynski and Lachlan Robertson to its incoming freshmen class. Kuszynski and Robertson, both from Canada, will join the Vikings this coming fall.
"I am excited to add Simon and Lachlan to the Viking tennis family," Head Coach
Vetu Mam said. "Not only do they bring talent and experience to the roster, but values and character that I expect from guys that I have been looking to build a program around. I have been following Simon and Lachlan's results since they signed and they just keep showing great results and motivation. These two are going to come in and make an impact on the roster right away and I am excited to be part of their college tennis journey."
Kuszynski will arrive in Portland from Markham, Ontario. A 2018 OFSAA mixed doubles champion and letter winner at St. Brother André, Kuszynski is a two-time regional champion. He placed third at the U18 National Selections and was a member of Team Ontario and the Mayfair Pro League in 2021.
Robertson will come to Portland State from Vancouver, British Columbia. A letter winner at Weil Tennis Academy, Robertson is a four-time British Columbia Provincial Champion. He placed second in the U12 division of the Canadian Junior Nationals while also claiming a level three Ojai Championship in U14. Robertson finished in the top 8 at the U16 Canadian Nationals and received the Sportsmanship Award following the Zimmerman Championships in 2019.
