PORTLAND, Ore. – Five members of the Portland State women's soccer team have been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team.
Sophomore Lucy Quinn, junior Raniyah Burton, and seniors Sienna Higinbotham, Hailey Green, and Chloe Huling all earned the award for the first time in their careers. Â
The honor recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. To qualify, a student-athlete must have completed at least one full year at their current institution, be a starter or important reserve, and have at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale). All-District selections are now eligible for Academic All-America honors, which will be announced on Dec. 6.
All five of Portland State's honorees started at least 16 of the Vikings' 18 matches this season and combined for a cumulative GPA of 3.78. The Vikings made up five of the nine Big Sky Conference honorees; the other four came from Montana.Â
Quinn, a sophomore Film major from Portland, Ore. is the youngest Viking to make the list after starting 17 matches as a midfielder, scoring one goal and adding one assist.
Burton, a junior forward from Richmond, Calif., is majoring in Public Health Studies. This marks her second postseason accolade as she was a Second Team All-Conference selection for the Vikings this season, scoring three goals during her junior campaign.
Higinbotham, a senior Social Work major out of Albany, Ore., started 17 matches as a midfielder for PSU, scoring one goal and recording two assists.
Huling, a senior forward from Issaquah, Wash. started every match in 2022, tallying two assists and 14 shots. She will graduate this Spring with a degree in Public Health Studies.
Green rounds out the group as the only graduate student, working towards her degree in Global Supply Chain Management. The Folsom, Calif., native played every minute on the Vikings' back line this season, earning herself an Honorable Mention All-Big Sky nod.Â
