PORTLAND – The Portland State men's tennis team earned its second consecutive sweep in a dual match against Linfield on Saturday at the Tualatin Hills Babette Tennis Center.
 
The Vikings improve to 2-3 on the year while the Wildcats open their season at 0-1.
 
Portland State earned the first point of the day after securing a trio of doubles matches. Matteo Fortini and Tommy Edwards locked in their third victory of the season at No.1 doubles (6-2) while newcomers Tommy Hsu and Nils Plutat earned a 6-2 victory at the No. 2 spot. Sam Roberts and Bryan Husin cruised past their Wildcat opponents on court three with a 6-0 win of their own.
 
The Vikings kept their foot on the pedal all the way through the singles portion posting a  total of eight shutout sets. Recording complete 6-0, 6-0 shutouts for the Vikings were Hsu (No. 5) Plutat (No. 4), and Edwards (No. 2).
 
After dropping the first three singles matches of the season, Fortini has found his groove at the No. 1 spot, earning two-straight victories, today's win coming against Gilbert Fuentes in 6-0, 6-3 fashion. 
 
PSU will have a quick turnaround, returning to action tomorrow in a dual match with Lewis and Clark College at the Babette Horenstein Tennis Center.
