USAFA, Colo. — The Portland State men's tennis team fell 0-7 to the Air Force Falcons Saturday at the AFA Indoor Courts.
 
The Falcons (7-2) topped the Vikings (1-6) in all three doubles and all six singles matches to claim the victory.
 
"I felt we played a strong match considering we played at over 7,000 feet elevation," PSU head coach Toby Krauel said. "That should help us tomorrow as we open conference play at Northern Colorado."
 
The Falcons swept the three doubles matches, though the Vikings' Brent Wheeler and Ian Risenhoover again put up a fight in the No. 1 slot. Wheeler and Risenhoover took Air Force's Andy Jackson and Steven Young to a tiebreaker, but lost in the tiebreaker to fall 6-7. Wheeler and Risenhoover have had the worst luck in tiebreakers this season, as they are 2-4 in doubles, but all four losses have come in tiebreakers.
 
Junior Alec Marx and sophomore Wil Cochrane, meanwhile, fell 4-8 to Air Force's Alex Grubbs and Jack McCullers, while the freshman team of Kacper Stelmaszak and Jonathan Pike fell 3-8 to Air Force's Ali Rizvi and Alex Lineberry in the other two doubles matches.
 
In singles, Stelmaszak played a tight match with Young at No. 2 singles, but fell 4-6, 4-6. Marx also played a tight first set in his match against Grubbs at No. 4 singles, but lost the match 5-7, 1-6.
 
Elsewhere, Wheeler lost to Jackson 3-6, 3-6 at No. 1 singles; Cochrane lost to McCullers 3-6, 2-6 at No. 3; Risenhoover lost 4-6, 3-6 to Air Force's Lucas Fumagalli at No. 5; and Pike lost 2-6, 4-6 to Air Force's Andrew Parks at No. 6.
 
The Vikings turn right around and play Northern Colorado tomorrow, Sunday, Feb. 23, at 9 a.m. (MT) in Greeley, Colo. The match will open Big Sky play for the Vikings.
