POCATELLO, Idaho — The Portland State women's soccer team clinched its third straight Big Sky title Saturday after an 86th-minute goal from sophomore midfielder Tamia Hasan led the Vikings to a 1-0 win at Idaho State.

Hasan's goal, the Vikings' latest in regulation this season, clinched the title outright for the Vikings, who improved to 10-4-2 overall and 7-0-1 in the Big Sky with the win.

"We are excited to host the tournament and clinch the Big Sky regular-season championship," PSU head coach Laura Schott said. "I couldn't be prouder of this group so far."

Hasan scored with only 4:57 left in regulation, when she chipped a ball over Idaho State goalkeeper Sheridan Hapsic after receiving a pass from junior midfielder Ariana Cooley. It was Hasan's first game-winning goal in her career, and her second goal in as many matches.

Idaho State went all out for an equalizer after Hasan's goal, but PSU goalkeeper Caitlin Plese made two late saves to preserve the 1-0 win.

Plese's saves helped the Vikings' record their ninth shutout of the season, breaking the single-season record for shutouts at Portland State, which the team previously shared with the 2002, 2009 and 2010 PSU teams. Additionally, Plese recorded her eighth individual shutout of the season, tying her with Cris Lewis for the individual single-season record at Portland State, which Lewis set during the Vikings' 2009 campaign.

The PSU defense kept Plese from having to make too many stops early in the match, as the Vikings took a 9-1 shot advantage into halftime, and still led 13-6 in shots when Hasan scored her goal.

Hasan's goal was the latest game-winner in regulation for the Vikings this season, and gave the Vikings their first win in a match that had been tied at halftime. Additionally, the Vikings were just 1-4-2 entering Saturday when they were shut out in the first half.

PSU can now go for its first undefeated Big Sky campaign in school history when the team faces Sacramento State on the road Friday, Oct. 25 at 2:30 p.m. (PT).

"We have more goals to accomplish this season and we look forward to hitting the field again," Schott said.

The Sacramento State match will conclude the regular season for the Vikings. Portland State will host the Big Sky Tournament from Nov. 7-10, however, with further details of the tournament to be announced at a later date.

Match Notes: Saturday's win evened the Vikings' all-time series against Idaho State at 8-8-1…Coach Schott improved to 5-1-0 against Idaho State in her career…The Vikings' Big Sky regular-season title is the fourth in six seasons under Schott, and the school's fifth title overall…Plese also tied Lewis for the second-most goalkeeper wins (10) in a single-season at Portland State.
