SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Eastern Washington heads to Hillsboro for women's soccer's installment of the Dam Cup. The Eagles last played in Hillsboro during the Viking Soccer Classic in early Sept., playing Utah State and Boise State. The Eagles, who came into the tournament  winless upset the Broncos on Sept. 9, 3-1, and went on a three game winning streak. Eastern Washington enters the second weekend of conference play with an overall record of 4-5-1 and a 1-1-0 Big Sky mark. The Eagles, Viks, Hornets and Wildcats all find themselves in the middle of the pack of the Big Sky, each with 1-1-0 records. In net Nathalie Schwery has seen a majority of the time between the pipes, getting five starts during the season and recording a 2-2-1 record. She maintains a 1.04 goals against average and a .872 save percentage. She has also registered two shutouts during the season.

HISTORY LESSON
Portland State has had mixed success against the Grizzlies in the series history as PSU is 8-8-2 all-time vs. Montana. The last time these two squads squared off was in Oct. of 2011 as the two teams played to a 2-2 tie.  The matched seemed bleak for the Viks as PSU headed to halftime down 2-0 but the reigning offensive Big Sky Offensive MVP, Megan Martin tallied two second-half markers to force overtime. Neither team could find the back of the net through two extra frames and the Viks and Grizzlies ended the match tied, 2-2.

PSU has gotten the best of its neighboring rival as the Viks are 11-4-1 against the Eagles all-time. Portland State has also won the last two matches with the most recent being a 1-0 victory on Oct. 7. Graduated senior Kayla Renard gave the Viks the deciding marker in the 72nd minute taking a pass from Melissa Trammel and burying her first of the season. The Viks are also 2-0 in Dam Cup contests with the wins in both in 2010 and 2011.

LAST TIME OUT
The Viks are coming off a weekend split in its first conference action falling to Northern Colorado, 0-1 and downing North Dakota, 3-1. In Friday's match against the Bears, the match was tightly contested throughout most of the game but Chandler Guetz fired a shot which deflected off defender Torie Morris and past goalkeeper, Lainey Hulsizer, in the 85th minute, giving UNC the 1-0 lead and the eventual victory. Despite having travel from Greeley, Colo. to Grand Forks, N.D. the Viks rebounded nicely as Kayla Henningsen tied the game at 1-1 midway through the first half while the second half proved to be all Portland State as Henningsen directly contributed to an own goal against North Dakota while Amanda Howie sealed it with a later marker giving PSU a 3-1 victory.

DUTRA LIKES TO HELP
Senior Amanda Dutra has shown in her PSU career that she enjoys helping her teammates as recently moved into a tie with Julie Forrest for the all-time lead in career assists with 13. Dutra recorded a helper on Kayla Henningsen's goal against North Dakota. Last weekend was the first weekend back after suffering a ankle injury that held her out for four matches. Dutra will now look to try to surpass the 13 assist mark as she has eight matches to do it.

IN A LEAGUE OF HER OWN
Last Friday head coach Laura Schott was inducted into the Jesuit high school Hall of Fame. Schott scored 116 career goals and helped lead her high school to four state titles and a perfect record throughout. She was a two-time All-America performer at California and a Hermann Trophy finalist in 2001. She won championships both in the WUSA and the WPSL while also competing for the United State national team overseas. She currently holds a 35-40-12 record and a 18-5-6 conference mark.

DEBUT DOMINATION
The Viks haven't wasted any time registering its first conference win under head coach Laura Schott as they are now 8-2-1 in Big Sky opening weekends. Likewise Portland State is 18-5-6 in Big Sky matches with Schott at the Helm.
