SCOUTING THE UTES
Utah enters the contest with a 4-1-1 mark and is on a two-game winning streak after registering, 1-0 victories against Weber State and Texas.

The Utes have evenly distributed the offense this past season as 11 different players have recorded points. Baylee Nielsen paces Utah with two goals and one assist while Jill Robison and Avery Ford also have two goals in 2012. Lindsey Luke has started in net a majority of the season tallying a 3-0-1 record meanwhile Cheyanne Mulcock has also seen time with a 1-1-0 mark. The netminders have combined for a 0.48 goals against average while they maintain a .889 save percentage.

SCOUTING THE MAVERICKS
Nebraska-Omaha has struggled in 2012 as it remains winless with a 0-7-0 record. Like PSU it has had trouble putting up goals this season having only scored five so far. Danielle Archuleta has accounted for three markers for the Mavericks with six points while Jordyn Braun and Monica Bosiljevac both have one apiece.

Meaghan Clark has started all seven matches for Nebraska-Omaha maintaining a 3.19 goals against average and a .645 save percentage.

HISTORY LESSON
Its been quite a while since Portland State has matched up against Utah with the last time coming in 1998. The Viks are 0-3 against the Utes in the series history losing matchups in 1998 (0-4), 1996 (0-4) and 1995 (0-2). This is will be the first time that PSU plays Nebraska-Omaha.

LAST TIME OUT
PSU is coming off a successful tournament as it registered its first win and managed to get much-needed goal scoring in the process. In its first match against Boise State, freshman Cori Bianchini gave Portland State the first lead of the match early in the second half but Boise knotted it up later in the half. When it looked like the Viks and Broncos were destined for a tie, Sophomore Daniela Solis received a pass from senior Carlie Martin and put it home with two ticks of the clock left to give PSU its first win of the sesaon.

In its second match of the weekend, Portland State received stellar goalkeeping from senior Lainey Hulsizer who recroded a season-high seven stops in 110 minutes played as the Aggies and Vikings played to a 0-0, draw.

SHE'S HONORED
With her 13 save perforamnce through 219 minutes of play this weekend, senior Lainey Hulsizer received the Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week honor. Hulsizer went 1-0-1 this weekend and recorded her first shutout of the season.

GETTING DEFENSIVE
One of the biggest questions entering the season for the Viks was how its defense and goalkeeping would shape up after losing a majority of its starters to graduation. The results so far should have PSU fans encouraged as Portland State ranks among the best in the Big Sky. It ranks No. 1 in goals allowed with seven, goals against average with and a 1.09 mark. A large part of that has been the improved play of netminder, Lainey Hulsizer. The Big Sky Defensive Player of the week currently sits second in the conference in goals against average maintaining a 1.13 and fifth in save percentage with a .759 mark.

NOT WASTING ANY TIME
Sophomore Daniela Solis didn't waste any time in making an impact for the Viks after returning from playing for Mexico at the U 20 World Cup. In her first match back Solis led the team in shots with three and scored a game-winning double-overtime marker to lift the Viks to a 2-1 victory over Boise State.

MISSING IN ACTION
Portland State has seen a rash of injuries in recent weeks as seniors MIchelle Hlasnik, Amanda Dutra and Amand Howie will all miss time for PSU. While Dutra and Howie are expected back before conference play, Hlasnk suffered a season ending injury.
