Men’s Tennis Heads to Colorado for Mile High Matchups


PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland State men's tennis team hits the road this weekend for a date with the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo. and a Big Sky Conference dual with Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colo.
 
The Vikings will take on the Falcons of the Air Force Academy on Saturday with the match slated to start at 9 a.m. PT. The Falcons are 2-1 this season with wins over Northern Colorado and UC-San Antonio by scores of 7-0 and 4-3 respectively. They fell to Wichita State by a score of 3-4.
 
The Bears of Northern Colorado are 1-2 this dual season and are 0-1 in Big Sky Conference play with a 1-6 loss at the hands of Eastern Washington last weekend.  The Bears are 4-14 overall in singles dual matches and 4-5 in doubles dual matches. The duo of Ben Gendron and Brandon Lupo are 2-1 this season playing as the Bears' No. 1 doubles tandem.
 
The Vikings are coming off of losses at Utah State and Idaho State last weekend and are looking to get into the win column for the first time this season.
 
Following this weekend, The Vikings will return home to host Seattle University on Friday, Feb. 17 at 6 p.m. and Eastern Washington on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 12 p.m. Both matches will be played at Club Green Meadows in Vancouver, Wash.
