PORTLAND, Ore - The Portland State men's tennis team for the third time in the last four weeks, the men's tennis team split a pair of matches. The Vikings opened with a dominant 5-2 win over SeattleU but faltered in a Big Sky contest against Weber State 5-2.

Juniors Sean Eberle and Matt Erickson both finished the weekend 2-0 in singles and 1-1 in doubles. Eberle earned a 6-2, 6-3 victory against SeattleU and had 6-3, 6-2 win versus Weber State. Both of Erickson's matches went three sets, with a 6-3, 3-6, 10-2 win against the Redhawks and a 5-7, 7-5, 10-1 win against the Wildcats.

The reigning Big Sky Player of the Week Alex VanDerschelden went 1-1 this weekend, dropping his first Big Sky match of the season. He holds an 8-4 overall record this season and is 4-1 in conference play.

The Vikings (6-7, 3-2) are still in the hunt for a spot Big Sky Tournament with four matches left on the conference register. The tournament will be held April 24-25 in Sacramento, Calif.
