Marta Giglio and Hana Abdelhamid Land All-Big Sky Honors

FARMINGTON, Utah — Marta Giglio led Portland State women's tennis' All-Big Sky honors announced Wednesday, earning a second team singles nod and first team doubles honor with Hana Abdelhamid.

The doubles honor extends the program's tradition of strong doubles play, pushing the Vikings' all-conference streak to six straight seasons with a pair recognized. Giglio and Abdelhamid become the fifth Viking duo to earn first-team honors during that span. Playing 10 of 12 matches together at the No. 1 spot, the sophomores were dominant all season long, posting a 10-2 record with a 5-2 mark against Big Sky foes. The pair's .833 win percentage ranks third-best for a single season by a PSU duo (minimum 10 matches).

Giglio's singles accolade marks the first for a Viking since 2023 and makes her the seventh player in program history to be named to the second team. The Sicily, Italy native put together a standout season for the Vikings, going 11-4, including a 6-3 mark at the No. 2 spot. Her .733 win percentage ranks fifth in program history for a single season and is the highest by a Viking (minimum 10 matches) since 2019. Her success was highlighted by an eight-match win streak, which helped land a Big Sky Player of the Week honor on March 4. Giglio finished the year 5-3 against conference opponents, with all three of those losses coming in three-set matches.

In his first year at the helm in 2026, Viking head coach Mike Mucci led the Vikings to a 7-8 overall record, narrowly missing a Big Sky Tournament berth with a 3-5 mark in conference play.
