Kyleigh Brown Earns All-Big Sky Honorable Mention after Standout Sophomore Season

BOISE, Idaho — The third-leading scorer within the Big Sky Conference this season, Kyleigh Brown picked up All-Big Sky honorable mention Friday – the first all-conference honor of her career.

Brown earned the honor after leading the Vikings and ranking third in the Big Sky with 17.1 points per game. She scored in double figures in 29 of 30 games, including 34 straight games between Feb. 20, 2025, to Feb. 26, 2026.

"We're incredibly proud of Kyleigh for earning All-Big Sky honorable mention," Portland State head coach Karlie Burris said of Brown. "Over the course of this season, we've seen tremendous growth in her game and in her leadership. Kyleigh has consistently led the way for us offensively, carrying a heavy load and stepping up in big moments when our team has needed it most.

"What makes this honor so special is the work she's put in behind the scenes. She's committed herself to improving every day, and it shows in the confidence and impact she brings to the floor. We're proud of the player and teammate she's become, and we're excited to see her continue building on this success moving forward."

Brown stepped into a leadership role for the Vikings in her sophomore season. She increased her scoring average from her freshman season by more than seven points a game. Additionally, she is playing more than four minutes more per game while shooting better from the field (.416), three-point range (.319) and the free throw line (.881) in her second year for the Vikings.

Her 88.1 free throw percentage gave her the Big Sky lead this season and ranked her 23rd nationally. She helped the Vikings rank second in the Big Sky in both free throws made (13.9) and attempted (19.3) per game. She also ranked eighth in the conference in both field goal percentage and minutes played per game (33.3).

Brown played her best late in games for the Vikings. Most of her scoring came in the second half as she averaged 10.6 points on 47.9 percent in the second half of Big Sky games this season. She hit the go-ahead jumper in the final minute of the Vikings' win over Weber State on Jan. 1. Additionally, she scored 10 of her 17 points in the second half of the Vikings' win over Sacramento State on Feb. 7.

She heads into Saturday's Big Sky first round game against Weber State off her tenth 20-point game of the season. Brown led all scorers in Monday's regular-season finale at Weber State with 22 points on 9-for-18 shooting – the seventh time out of 18 Big Sky games that Brown shot 50 percent or better from the field.
