PORTLAND, Ore. — The Portland State women's basketball team just got stronger in the post as Jordyn Smith, a 6-2 incoming sophomore forward, signed with the Vikings Thursday.
Â
Smith, a Tigard, Ore., native who won a 2025 OSAA 6A state title with Tualatin High School, comes to the Vikings after a successful freshman year at NCAA Division II Cal Poly Humboldt. She earned Freshman of the Year and First-Team All-Conference honors this past season while leading the California Collegiate Athletic Association in field goal percentage (.497), rebounds per game (10.8), blocks per game (3.1) and double-doubles (15).
Â
"Jordyn is a double-double machine. She will be our anchor on the low block with her size and athleticism. She gives us an inside presence, paint touches on the offensive end, and a rim protector on defense. Jordyn is an elite rebounder on both sides of the ball. We are thrilled to bring her back home," head coach
Karlie Burris said of Smith.
Â
Smith averaged a double-double as a freshman at Cal Poly Humboldt, adding 14.0 points to her 10.8 rebounds per game. She twice scored a season-high 24 points – against Central Washington on Nov. 15, 2025, and at Stanislaus State on Feb. 7, 2026. She grabbed a season-high 17 rebounds to go with 14 points at home against Stanislaus State on Dec. 4, 2025.
Â
In high school, Smith made the all-state second team as a senior when she helped Tualatin to the 6A state title. Smith averaged a tournament-best 11.0 rebounds per game during that run. That included a game-high 15 rebounds (seven offensive) in the championship game as she and Tualatin beat a Clackamas team that featured Jazzy Davidson – the 2026 Big Ten Freshman of the Year at USC – as well as fellow incoming transfer and future PSU teammate Sara Barhoum, 63-58.
Â
Smith represents the second player from that Tualatin championship team to sign with the Vikings. Alex Padilla, an incoming freshman, signed with the Vikings in the fall.
