Cynthia Valerie Ong have earned Academic All-District honors for 2024-25 as selected by NCAA College Sports Communicators (CSC).

CSC recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom. Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in July.

To earn Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must be a significant contributor to their team while maintaining a 3.50 GPA or higher. All starters on the golf team, Shimizu, Brundage, Ong and Udom have been part of a Viking program that maintains the highest GPA of any PSU team (3.89).

Junior
Payten Shimizu, from Wailuku, HI, is a two-time Academic All-District selection and will be a three-time Academic All-Big Sky performer when that team is released later this summer. A Computer Science major, Shimizu ranked second on the Vikings with a 77.09 scoring average.

Bayler Brundage, from West Linn (OR) High School, is another two-time Academic All-District selection and three-time Academic All-Big Sky performer. A Psychology major, Brundage had a 77.86 scoring average - nearly a stroke-and—a-half-per-round improvement over her sophomore season – and ranked third on the team.
Udom is a sophomore from Portland's Westview High School, majoring in Biochemistry. She is a first time Academic All-District choice and will be a two-time Academic All-Big Sky selection. Udom had a 79.09 scoring average - a stroke-per-round improvement over last season – and was PSU's top finisher at the Big Sky Championship, placing 21
st.

Ong is also a sophomore and comes from Jakarta, Indonesia. A Business Administration: Marketing major, she led the team in scoring for the full season with a 77.00 average. Ong earns Academic All-District for the first time and will be a two-time Academic All-Big Sky choice.

The honors for Portland State Women's Golf continue a lengthy run of academic success. The Vikings were a Big Sky Conference Women's Golf Team Champion for GPA in 2022-23 (3.88), had a 3.82 GPA last year, and will contend for the honor again this year with a 3.89 team GPA.
