Vikings Shoot Best Round On Final Day Of The Big Sky Championship, Udom Posts 71

Litchfield, AZ – Portland State saved its best for last, posting a final-round 298 total at the Big Sky Conference Championship to place eighth overall. Sophomore Momo Udom led the way with an even-par 71 – her best round as a Viking.
 
PSU ended the season with a 303-302-298=903 total over three days on the Wigwam Golf Club Blue Course. The 298 matched a season-low round and the 903 was a season-low tournament score.
 
For her part, Udom bettered her PSU career-low round and tournament scores. Udom shot 75-78-71=224 to place 21st for the tournament. She moved up 12 spots on the leaderboard on the final day.
 
The Vikings struggled over a three-hole stretch on the front nine but rallied on the back nine, making 10 birdies. After going out in 40 strokes, Udom led the rally with four birdies, shooting 31 on the inward half. Added to the excellent scoring was a chip-in eagle by Payten Shimizu on the final hole.
 
Junior Bayler Brundage matched her best tournament score as a Viking, set twice previously, including the 2024 Big Sky Championship. She shot 75-74-77=226 to finish in a tie for 27th place.
 
Shimizu, also a junior, was just one shot behind Brundage with 75-76-76=227, placing 32nd.
 
Avery Kageyama, a graduate student playing in her final tournament, finished at 78-74-78=230 for a season-best score. She placed in a tie for 34th.
 
Cynthia Valerie Ong had her best round of the tournament on Wednesday, shooting a three-over par 74, which included an even-par 35 on the back nine. The sophomore shot 78-81-74=233 and was 38th.
 
Defending Champion Sacramento State took the Big Sky title once again with a team total of one-over par 282-285-286=853. Weber State won a close race for second place at 868. Montana State was third with 869 and Northern Arizona was fourth at 871.
 
Montana State's Maddie Montoya took the individual title with a four-under par 209 score. She shot 69 on the final day to move up from second, passing Sacramento State's Caitlin Maurice, who was -3, 210.
