Kageyama, Brundage Shoot 74s As Vikings Move Up One On Big Sky Leaderboard

Litchfield, AZ – The Portland State Vikings moved up one spot on the leaderboard after the second round of the Big Sky Conference Championship behind a pair of 74s shot by Bayler Brundage and Avery Kageyama. The Vikings are now in eighth place in the tournament, played at Wigwam Golf Club, with one round to play.

Brundage, a junior, is the top Viking through two rounds at 75-74=149. She is tied for 18th place. Kageyama's 74 moved her up six spots on the individual leaderboard. The graduate student is at 78-74=152 and tied for 30th.

Between those two is junior Payten Shimizu who has turned in scores of 75-76 over two days. She is tied for 25th.

Sophomore Momo Udom is at 75-78=153 and tied for 33rd. Cynthia Valerie Ong, also a sophomore, is tied for 41st with 78-81=159.

Portland State has posted scores of 303-302=605. The Vikings moved ahead of Eastern Washington on the leaderboard (608) and are eighth among 10 teams. A good final round on Wednesday would give them a shot at passing the two sixth-place teams, Idaho and Northern Colorado, who are tied at 599.

Defending champion Sacramento State continues to lead the Big Sky Championship. The Hornets are at one-under par 567 with rounds of 282-285. Montana State is 10 shots behind at 577. Northern Arizona is third with 582.

Caitlin Maurice of Sacramento State moved into first-place with the best round of the day, carding three-under par 68. She has a 139 total and is one shot clear of Montana State's Maddie Montoya (140).
