Portland State senior-to-be
Bayler Brundage advanced to the round of 16 at the Oregon Women's Amateur Championship at Tualatin Golf Club before behind defeated in match play by a former Oregon Am Champion.
Brundage won her first match on Wednesday afternoon, defeating Kate Harper, 4 and 2, at Tualatin. She birdied the par-four 16
th hole – her second birdie of the day – to clinch the match. On Thursday, she met up with 2023 Champion Kyra Ly of Portland. Ly came away with a 6 and 5 win to reach the quarterfinals and knock Brundage out of the competition.
A native of West Linn, Brundage reached match play competition by qualifying among the top 32 in stroke play qualifying earlier in the week. She was the 14
th seed in the bracket of 32.
Also competing for the Vikings at the Oregon Amateur was junior-to-be
Momo Udom. The Westview High School grad also advanced through stroke play competition, but lost 6 and 5 to Mary Scott Wolfe in the opening round of match play. Viking freshman-to-be Francesca Tomp, a four-time 5A Oregon State Champion, competed in the Oregon Am as well, but did not advance to match play.
Former Oregon Amateur Champions from Portland State include former player Krissy (Peterson) Carman (2016, 2024), and former coaches Kailin Downs (2002) and Kathleen Takaishi (1997, 1998).
Quarterfinals and semifinals take place on Friday and the championship match is on Saturday.
