The Big Sky Conference released the Academic All-Conference list for 2023-24 spring sports and Portland State had 45 student-athletes earn honors. The sports included men's and women's tennis, women's golf, softball, and men's and women's outdoor track & field.
The women's golf and women's tennis teams had every player on their 2023-24 rosters receive the award. Additionally, the men's tennis team had five of its nine members make the academic all-conference teams. Softball held the most total honorees of any spring sport with 10, ahead of men's and women's outdoor track & field with eight and nine, respectively.
Adding the spring total to the Vikings' totals in the fall and winter, PSU had a total of 123 Academic All-Big Sky Conference honorees during the 2023-24 academic year. The overall student-athlete grade point average for Viking student-athletes during spring was 3.34. All 15 varsity sports within the Portland State Athletic Department had a GPA of 3.0 or above over the entire 2023-24 academic year.
To be eligible for academic all-conference honors, a student-athlete must have met and/or exceeded the following minimum requirements: 1) Participated in at least half of the team's competitions; 2) Achieved a 3.2 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at the conclusion of the most recently completed term; 3) Completed at least one academic term at his/her current Big Sky institution. For track & field student-athletes, they must have participated in at least half of the team's competitions or competed at the conference championship.
