Portland State fifth-year senior goalkeeper
Eden Millan was named the Big Sky Soccer Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday, marking the first weekly honor of her career.
Â
This recognition follows her impressive performance in leading the Vikings to their first conference victory of the season, a 1-0 win over Northern Colorado last Thursday, during which she recorded her second consecutive shutout.
Â
The Redondo Beach native has excelled in her last three appearances, allowing just one goal in 270 minutes of action against Big Sky opponents, helping PSU to a 1-0-2 record during that stretch. The only goal scored against her in that timeframe came in the second minute against Weber State on October 4, meaning she has kept opponents scoreless for an impressive 267 consecutive minutes.
Â
Millan made ten saves against the Bears on Thursday, just two shy of her career high. She now leads the conference with an average of 5.89 saves per game, totaling 53 saves for the season. Additionally, she ranks second in the Big Sky with an .841 save percentage and a 1.18 goals-against average. Nationally, Millan's goals-against average of 1.89 ranks 16th, while her save percentage sits 36th.
Â
Millan is the first Viking to earn Defensive Player of the Week honors since 2019, becoming the fifth player to receive this honor under head coaches Katie Burton and Maureen Whitney. This accolade also marks the first weekly recognition for Portland State this season.
