Tya Seth,
Mariana Garcia Rosette and
Mari Nakamura have earned Academic All-District honors as selected by NCAA College Sports Communicators (CSC).
CSC recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom. Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced June 22.
To earn Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must be a significant contributor to their team while maintaining a 3.50 GPA or higher. Seth, Garcia Rosette and Nakamura have been part of a Viking program that maintains the highest GPA of any PSU team (3.87).
Seth, a senior from Lake Oswego High School, earned two bachelor' degrees from Idaho State in Journalism and Public Relations and is completing her MBA at Portland State. She was a third team All-Big Sky Conference selection this past season and had a 75.33 scoring average.
Garcia Rosette, a junior from Tijuana, Mexico, is a two-time Academic All-Big Sky selection and three-time letterwinner. She majors in Business Administration: Management and Leadership. Garcia Rosette had a career-best 77.83 scoring average this season.
Nakamura, a junior from Honolulu, is a two-time Academic All-Big Sky choice. An Architecture major, she had an 80.00 scoring average this season, also her best as a Viking.
Seth, Garcia Rosette and Nakamura will all be eligible for Academic All-Big Sky honors later this summer as well as their other three teammates,
Tannica Porter,
Bayler Brundage and
Payten Shimizu.
