Payten Shimizu Fires One-Under Par 71 At Pat Lesser-Harbottle Invitational

Tacoma, WA – Viking senior Payten Shimizu posted a season-best one-under par 71 in the second round of the Pat Lesser-Harbottle Invitational at Tacoma Country and Golf Club. Shimizu finished the day with a team-best 149 as Portland State is battling in the 54-hole event hosted by Seattle University. Shimizu is tied for 34th among 84 players competing.
 
The Vikings opened the day with a solid 304 team total and were in 11th place after one round. The second round was a struggle at 314 and PSU slipped to 13th place among 15 teams with a 618 total.
 
Gonzaga holds the lead with rounds of 291-280=571. Just three strokes behind is Santa Clara at 288-286=574. Audrey Brust of Santa Clara leads the tournament with a four-under par total of 70-70=140.
 
Viking junior Cynthia Valerie Ong is tied for 55th with 74-80=154. Her sister, freshman Caithlyn, is one stroke back in a tie for 59th with 75-80=155.
 
Sophomore Maddie Dustin posted rounds of 77-83=160. Francesca Tomp, a freshman, shot 83-78=161. Senior Bayler Brundage came in with 82-88=170.
