Shimizu Leads Vikings, Tomp Posts 73 At Pat Lesser-Harbottle Invitational

Tacoma, WA – Portland State wrapped up the Pat Lesser-Harbottle Invitational with a 13th-place finish, posting scores of 304-314-306=924. The Vikings tied Eastern Washington for 13th in the 15-team field. Gonzaga was the tournament champion with a 291-280-285=856 score – an eight-under par total.
 
The 54-hole tournament, hosted by Seattle University, was played at Tacoma Country and Golf Club.
 
Payten Shimizu had one of the best tournament scores of her Portland State career, highlighted by a second-round 71. The Viking senior came in with 78-71-74=223 and tied for the 30th to lead the team.
 
Freshman Caithlyn Ong was 56th among 84 golfers with a score of 75-80-76=231. It was her best score in two tournaments as a Viking.
 
Another freshman, Francesca Tomp, had the round of the day on Tuesday with a one-over par 73. Tomp was playing as an individual and improved each round with scores of 83-78-73=234, tying for 62nd. She had a team-high seven birdies in the tournament.
 
Also tying for 62nd was junior Cynthia Valerie Ong, with 74-80-80=234. Sophomore Maddie Dustin had her best round on Tuesday and tied for 69th with 77-83-76=236. Senior Bayler Brundage finished with 82-88-80=250.
 
Sienna Harder of British Columbia came from four strokes back on the final day, shooting a four-under par 68 to win the tournament. Harder had scores of 71-73-68=212.
