Box Score POCATELLO, Idaho – A shorthanded Portland State men's tennis team dropped its opening match of the weekend 6-1 to Idaho State in Pocatello on Friday.
The loss dropped the Vikings to 3-10 overall and 1-4 in conference play, while the Bengals improved their overall record to 11-9 on the year and 4-2 in Big Sky action.
Forced to forfeit a match at the No. 3 doubles position, the Vikings surrendered the opening point of the dual following a 6-2 loss at No. 2 doubles.
Nils Plutat earned his third-straight conference victory at No. 1 singles to lock in the Viking's only point of the day. A forfeit at No. 6 singles in addition to five Bengals wins, secured the victory for Idaho State.
Portland State will return to action on Saturday in Ogden, Utah as they take on Weber State at 11 a.m. PT.
