SEATTLE – The Portland State women's tennis team fell 7-0 in a dual at the University of Washington on Thursday.
 
The Vikings are now 0-3 on the season while the Huskies remain perfect at 6-0.
 
Facing a stacked Husky lineup Portland State held its own in the doubles portion of the match. Freshman duo Makoto Ohara and Capu Sanoner put up a 6-3 fight at the No. 1 spot in their second appearance as a pair this season. Also earning a trio of set victories but falling 6-3 at No. 2 doubles were Lotti Meszaros and Emily Rees.  
 
Highlighting PSU in singles play was senior transfer, Ashley Ramirez. Ramirez entered the day undefeated in singles action but was unable to hold off Yolanda Lin at the No.5 spot. After dropping the first set 6-1, Ramirez matched with a 6-1 victory of her own to push a tiebreaker, ultimately falling 1-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-3).
 
Meszaros was unable to solve 74^th ranked Vanessa Wong at No.1 singles, losing her match 6-1, 6-0. Gerda Upeniece put up a fight at No. 6 singles, losing a close first set 7-5 before Washington's Tara Chilton was able to clinch the victory with a 6-3 second set defeat.
 
The Vikings return to action tomorrow as they take on Seattle University (11 a.m.)
