THE OPENING TIP
Portland State (3-0) will take its perfect record up against Utah State (2-2) of the Mountain West Conference as it begins a week filled with high-level basketball. The Vikings will play four games in seven days with at least one against a nationally-ranked program.

It all starts on Monday night when PSU hosts Utah State in the first meeting between the schools in nearly 37 years. The game will be played at Memorial Coliseum in downtown Portland.

The Utah State game marks the first time that Portland State has used Memorial Coliseum as its home court since Mar. 5, 2005 - a Big Sky Conference Tournament semifinal game against Weber State. PSU is 19-9 when using the Coliseum as its home court in 21 previous seasons at Division I and as a member of The Big Sky Conference. Memorial Coliseum was also an occasional home court for Portland State basketball during the 1970s.

The Vikings picked up their second road win of the season on Saturday with a 94-82 victory at UC Riverside. It was another high-paced frenetic contest that is quickly becoming PSU's style. There were 47 turnovers and 56 fouls in all as the Vikings set the tone with their full-court pressure. Although it was a grind the whole way, the Vikings never allowed the Highlanders to get closer than seven points in the second half. SR G Bryce Canda led five Vikings in double figures scoring 20 points.

After two weekends of play, the Vikings are the only remaining undefeated team in the Big Sky Conference.

Utah State comes to Portland with a 2-2 record. The Aggie have wins over Montana State and Mississippi Valley State, and losses to Weber State and 17th-ranked Gonzaga.

The Vikings' game with UC Riverside began a stretch of five games in nine days. After Utah State, the Vikings play in the PK80 Tournament Thursday, Friday and Sunday. The opener in that big event? Top-ranked Duke on Thanksgiving Day.

Monday's game tips off at 7 p.m. A live video and audio stream is available at WatchBigSky.com or Pluto.tv (channel 232). Live statistics are available at www.ViksLive.com.

COMING UP
The Vikings take part in the PK80 Tournament at the Rose Quarter beginning this Thursday. PSU battles top-ranked Duke on Thanksgiving Day at the Coliseum. The Vikings then face either Butler or Texas on Friday at noon or 2:30 p.m. at Moda Center. Sunday's opponent, location and game time will be determined following Friday's game.  Among possible opponents are Ohio State, Stanford, Florida or Gonzaga.

Portland State's next home game is Dec. 2 against Portland Bible at Lewis and Clark College.

HOME AWAY FROM HOME IN 2017-18
Portland State has a temporary home for 2017-18 - Lewis and Clark College's Pamplin Sports Center - as the Vikings await completion of their new $51-million Viking Pavilion for the 2018-19 season. The Vikings will have 13 home games in 2017-18 (which includes one at Memorial Coliseum). With the opener at Portland's Chiles Center, and three games in the PK80 Tournament at the Rose Quarter over Thanksgiving weekend, Portland State will play 17 of 30 regular season games in the city of Portland.

Portland State has four home games, six road games and three neutral site games during the non-conference schedule. However, eight of the 13 non-conference games will be played within the city of Portland.
