PORTLAND, Ore. — The Portland State men's basketball team expanded its roster and its geographical reach Thursday with the signing of Alexandros Skliros from Patras, Greece, ahead of the 2026-27 season.
 
Skliros, a 6-8 post player, comes to the Vikings with high-level experience representing Greece on the international stage. Skliros competed for Greece at the FIBA U18 EuroBasket this past summer. He appeared in seven games, averaging 5.4 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game while recording 12 total blocks.
 
His strongest performance at the tournament came in Greece's quarterfinal matchup against Spain. Skliros scored 10 points on 5-for-7 shooting while adding four rebounds, two assists and three blocks.
 
"We're really excited about having Alexandros join our program," Coburn said of Skliros. "He plays the game with toughness, intensity and spirit. We really like his ability to defend, rebound and play with physicality. So, he will fit right in with us. He has played some high-level international basketball early in his young career and we look forward to him continuing to develop with us."
 
Skliros also represented Greece at the 2024 FIBA U16 EuroBasket, averaging 9.9 points and 5.1 rebounds per game.
 
At the club level, Skliros developed within the Promitheas Patras basketball system, gaining experience in one of Greece's strongest player-development environments.
 
Skliros joins fellow international signees Francesco Corato (Italy), Gantas Križanauskas (Lithuania), Yaroslav Nikonov (Russia) and Emil Skyttä (Finland) ahead of the upcoming season. The five international signings join domestic transfers Trevor Frank, Luke Kearney, Dennis Johnson III, Koren Johnson, Nehemiah Pollard, Antonio Pusateri and Jaquay Randolph to give the Vikings 12 newcomers on the Vikings' 2026-27 roster.
