The last time fans attended a Portland State basketball game at Viking Pavilion, the Vikings were cutting down the nets as the Viking men wrapped up their first Big Sky regular-season title in 18 seasons.
Fans can secure their ticket for another run at a title this winter as season ticket deposits are on sale for both the men's and women's basketball teams. Deposits for men's basketball season tickets start at $50. Deposits for women's basketball season tickets start at $25.
Both teams figure to give Viking fans something to cheer about this winter. The Viking men reloaded with several impact transfers, including former Pac-12 Sixth Man of the Year
Koren Johnson and the NCAA Division II leader in rebounds and double-doubles in
Jaquay Randolph. The Viking men also added several touted international prospects between
Yaroslav Nikonov (Russia),
Francesco Corato (Italy),
Emil Skyttä (Finland) and
Gantas Križanauskas (Lithuania).
The Viking women, meanwhile, head into their second year under head coach
Karlie Burris with a retooled roster. The Vikings added seven true freshmen to go with two redshirt freshmen and three transfers. The transfers include
Teagan Colvin from UNLV – a former ESPN Top 100 recruit, who Burris originally recruited to the Lady Rebels.
Sara Barhoum, meanwhile, joined the Vikings from Oregon where she played as a freshman after setting the OSAA 6A state record for three-pointers.
Jordyn Smith also joined the Vikings after being named Freshman of the Year and First Team All-Conference for NCAA Division II Cal Poly Humboldt last season.
The conference schedules for both the Viking men and women will be announced next week.
