PSU'S HISTORY AT THE BILL DELLINGER INVITATIONAL:
Both the Viking men and women have competed at the Bill Dellinger Invitational four times in the last five years. The Vikings first ran it in 2010 and again the following season in 2011. They returned after a one-year hiatus in 2012 to participate in 2013 and 2014.

The meet was held at Pre's Trail for the Vikings' first year at the meet in 2010, but was held at the Springfield Country Club in 2011 and 2013. The course was 6,000 meters for the women in 2010, too, but was only 5,000 meters in 2011 and 2013. The men have always raced at 8,000 meters at the Bill Dellinger Invitational. Zach Carpenter recorded the Vikings' fastest men's time at the Bill Dellinger Invitational in 2011, when he placed 49th in a time of 24:58.15. Sarah Dean, meanwhile, recorded the Vikings' fastest women's 5K time at the meet in 2013, when she placed 29th in 17:53.00. Julie Pedersen also paced the Vikings in 2010, when the race was a 6K, as she placed 20th in the field in 21:05.66.

Most recently in 2014, the Viking men placed fourth while the women took fifth. Alex Cisneros led the Vikings as a freshman, finishing 26th overall at 26:02. Senior Camelia Mayfield was Portland State's top female runner. She was 24th, crossing the finish line with a mark of 21:27.

PARKING:
Free spectator parking will be available at Alton Baker Park and Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Ore.

THE COURSE:
Pre's Trail in Alton Baker Park, where the meet will be held, will place the athletes almost entirely on woodchip trails during the race. The course consists of two primary loops – the larger "Park" Loop and the smaller "Stadium" Loop. The Park Loop is approximately 2,200 meters in length and the Stadium Loop is approximately 1,000 meters in length. From the starting line, athletes will run clockwise around the Park Loop, crossing the footbridge by Autzen Stadium and use the connector to reach the start of the Stadium Loop. After completing the Stadium Loop, athletes will cross back over the footbridge, and begin running the Park Loop in a counterclockwise direction. The women will run the Park Loop 1.5 times, while the men will run the Park Loop 2.5 times before finishing down the start/finish straightaway. Pre's Trail is named after track legend Steve Prefontaine, who competed at the University of Oregon.

LOOKING AHEAD:
After the Bill Dellinger Invitational, the Vikings will next race Saturday, Sept. 19, at the Sundodger Invitational in Seattle, hosted by the University of Washington. The meet is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m.
