SEATTLE – Senior
Amanda Boman won her second race in as many tries, and the Portland State women's cross country team claimed its second straight victory on Saturday at the Emerald City Open, hosted by Seattle University.

The Viking women placed four runners in the top 10 at Lower Woodland Park on their way to a meet-best 38 points. Club Northwest and host Seattle followed with 48 points, and every other team finished at least 80 points back from there.

Boman was the only runner in the women's 6,000-meter race to break the 22-minute plateau (21:58). That put her across the finish line more than 14 seconds ahead of the next closest runner. Boman also won the Charles Bowles Willamette Invitational in Salem, Ore. on Oct. 3.

Sophomore
Sarah Medved finished third overall (22:22.2), which tied her best individual finish as a Viking, as well as her highest finish of the season. She was followed by junior
Cheryn Trapp in eighth place (22:47.9), and freshman Kaila Gibson in 10
th (22:56.3).

In the 72-runner field, seven of the Vikings' eight participants finished 30th or better.

After a four-week layoff, the Portland State men got back into the swing of things with a third-place finish in the men's 8,000-meter race. Host Seattle claimed seven of the top 13 spots to win the race with 30 points. Portland took second with 64 points, 12 ahead of the Vikings' 76. Portland State finished just ahead of Club Northwest (80), and it was a big drop-off from there to fifth-place Seattle Running Club (132).

Sophomore
Alex Cisneros paced the Vikings by claiming a fifth-place finish (26:16.3). Seniors
Aaron Campbell (26:48.2) and
Neil Seibert (27:02.7) came across in 15th and 20th, respectively.

Junior
Ben Richardson finished 28th, seniors
John Talik and
Spencer Russell took 30th and 31st and sophomore
Justin Wikler was 35th. In the field of 115 runners, seven of Portland State's nine participants finished in the top 35.

The Portland State men and women travel to Cedar City, Utah on Oct. 31 for the Big Sky Championships. The NCAA West Regional is set for Nov. 13 back in Seattle.
