FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Portland State women's soccer (5-6-2, 3-1-1) outshot Northern Arizona (4-6-4, 2-1-2) 19-12 but wasn't able to solve NAU goalkeeper Lauren Weaver as the Viks drew the Lumberjacks, 0-0, in Flagstaff, Ariz., Friday night. Senior

Portland State generated some offense in the first half but was unable to find the back of the net outshooting the Lumberjacks 8-4 through the first period. PSU also held the advantage in corners, 3-1.
The story was similar in the second half as the Viks dominated play, firing 10 shots at the Northern Arizona net compared to the Lumberjacks' three but again couldn't beat Weaver.
The Viks only managed one shot through two overtime periods as Northern Arizona tallied three but time expired without a goal being scored as the teams played to a 0-0, draw.
“We played a hard fought match against a good team at one of the hardest places to play,” head coach
Laura Schott said. “We wanted three points in this one but I'm proud of the way our defense played to get the shutout and we will take the positives into our next match.”
The Viks ended the match outshooting the Lumberjacks 19-10 while holding the edge in corner kicks 5-1.
Martin and Solis led the team in shots with five, meanwhile sophomore
Kayla Henningsen tallied three. Demi Schmeider paced NAU in shots with four.
Senior
Lainey Hulsizer made it three-straight matches that she has recorded a clean sheet making five saves in the contest, as she is now 5-6-2 on the year. Weaver stood tall in the net making 12 saves and is now 2-2-3 overall this season.
The Viks will now travel to Cedar City, Utah to play the Thunderbirds of Southern Utah on Sunday. The match time is slated for 9 a.m. PT.
