HILLSBORO, Ore.
- The Portland State women's soccer team fell to the Boise State Broncos Friday night at Hillsboro Stadium in double-overtime in the second game of the Viking Soccer Classic.

The Broncos (3-4-0 overall) scored the lone goal of the match in the 106th minute to claim the 1-0 victory. They scored on a cross from the right side of the field to the far post where Shannon Sch ueren headed the ball into the back of the net past Portland State keeper Melissa Ferguson.

“I thought our effort level tonight was very good, we worked hard,” Portland State women's soccer head coach Laura Schott said following the tough loss. “We generated enough great opportunities but it was one of those days where the ball hits the post instead of the net.”

The match was all about momentum. The Vikings came out strong in the first half and recorded three early shots but could not turn them into goals. After withstanding the Vikings early attack, the Broncos went on the offensive keeping the ball in Viking territory for much of the first half.

Each goalie played well in the game and made several spectacular saves too keep the game scoreless into the overtime periods. Broncos' keeper Liz Ruiz recorded seven saves in the game to Ferguson's six saves .

The Vikings return to action Sunday at 2 p.m. when they take on the Seattle Redhawks in the final match of the Viking Soccer Classic. The Redhawks fell to Call Poly by a score of 2-0 in the first game of the tournament.
