LOGAN, Utah – The Portland State women's soccer team fell to Utah State Sunday afternoon in Logan, Utah by a score of 2-1 in front of a crowd of 315 at Bell Soccer Field.
The Vikings (0-2-0 overall) came out of the gate on the attack and outshot the Aggies in the first half by a total of 6-to-2.
Ariel Snyder struck for the Vikings in the 36th minute when she headed a rebounded ball off of an uncontrolled save by the Utah State keeper for her first goal of the season and her first career goal.
The Vikings took the 1-0 lead into the second half until the Aggies equalized the game at 1-1 in the 54th minute. The Aggies (2-0-0) then added the game winning goal less than three minutes later to take the 2-1 lead.
Portland State had several opportunities to even up the score late, but was unable to get the goal they needed.
Megan Martin led the Vikings in shots with three.
The Vikings return home this Friday, Aug. 26, for their regular season home opener at Hillsboro Stadium when they take on UNLV at 1 p.m.
