VANCOUVER/CHENEY, Wash. - After dropping a 7-0 contest to Big Sky Champion Sacramento State Friday, the Portland State women's tennis  team perservered against Eastern Washington to take the match 5-2. It was the Vikings second Big Sky win of the season, the team's most since 2008.

Against Sacramento State, the No. 1 doubles pair of Yuki Sugiyama and Anya Dalkin defeated nationally ranked doubles pair, No. 84, Tatsiana Kapshai and Rebeca Delgado in a nailbiter, 9-7 (7-4).

The Vikings magical weekend started in doubles with Sugiyama and Dalkin earning a 8-4 win at No. 1, followed by Marti Pellicano and Caitlin Stocking also earning an 8-4 victory to clinch the doubles point. Nayanatara Vadali and Marina Todd nearly made it a sweep in doubles but fell 8-7 (7-4).

In singles, the Viks relentless with Sugiyama earning a decisive victory No. 1 at, 6-2, 6-1, and Pellicano doing the same at No. 4, 6-4, 6-4. Dalkin opened singles with 6-0 loss in the first set, but went on to win the next two sets, 6-2, 6-2, to take her match at No. 2 and clinch the Vikings conference win.

Vadali recorded a 6-3 first set win and dropped her second set, 7-5. She quickly found herself down 5-1, and went on to rally back and gain victory in the third set 7-6 (7-5).

Portland State will close its season April 20 against Idaho State with a match time and location to be announced.
