BOZEMAN/MISSOULA, Mont. - The Portland State men's tennis team played a pair of matches in Montana this weekend, taking on Montana State and Montana. For the second-straight week, sophomore Mitch Somach finished the weekend 2-0 in singles play and improved his season win number to nine. PSU went 0-2 to both Montana schools.

The Vikings fall to 5-11 overall, 2-5 in Big Sky play, with two matches remaining this season, including one against Big Sky foe, Eastern Washington. PSU fell to the Cats, 5-2, and the Griz, 6-1.

Somach, a native of San Diego, Calif., won his first match of the weekend over Montana State Alberto Fuentes 6-3, 6-4, and followed with a three-set victory over Montana's Mike Facey, 4-6, 6-3, 10-7. As stated before, Somach finishes the weekend 2-0 in singles and clinched his team-leading ninth win of the season.

Against MSU, freshman Roman Margoulis won his match at No. 5 with a victory over Prithiv Sivasubramaniam 6-2, 6-4, to give the Viks their second point of the match.

The Vikings will close the 2011 season next weekend with a pair of matches at Eastern Washington April 15 and Lewis-Clark State April 16.
