Carnovale Named Co-Defensive Player of the Week


OGDEN, Utah - Senior defender Toni Carnovale was named the Big Sky Conference's Co-Defender of the Week  for matches played from Oct. 17-23 it was announced Monday.

Carnovale, a senior from Seattle, Wash., played all 195-plus minutes this past weekend, anchoring the Portland State back line and helping the Vikings to a 2-0 weekend. Carnovale stepped up when needed and helped the Vikings to two shutouts on the weekend helping them claim a share of the Big Sky regular season title. She also contributed offensively for the Vikings with four shots on the weekend and an assist on the game-winning goal over Weber State.

It is Carnovale's first player of the week honor of the season and second for her career. It is the sixth time that a Viking has recieved the honor this season.

The Vikings will participate in their annual Alumni Game this Sunday, Oct. 30 at Hillsboro Stadium. The game is slated for 1 p.m. The Vikings will then turn their eyes towards their eyes towards their Big Sky Conference Tournament semi-final match against Weber State on Nov. 4. A time for the match will be announced later this week.
