Trio Of Players Lead Wolfpack Past Vikings, 85-57

RENO – Tahnee Robinson, Shavon Moore and Kayla Williams teamed up to outscore Portland State by themselves and the host Nevada Wolfpack used a big second half surge for a 85-57 going-away victory over the Vikings on Thursday night.

Robinson poured in 30 points, Moore had 20 and Williams added 16 as the trio of Wolfpack players outscored the entire Viking team by nine.

Nevada (7-2) led the entire way, but Portland State was able to keep it close for much of the first half. The Wolfpack opened up a 31-17 lead with 8:39 until the break before PSU fought back to get within six, at 35-29, on a Courtney Cremer three-pointer at the 4:59 mark. Nevada eventually went into the half up 42-35.

The Wolfpack quickly put the game out of reach in the opening minutes of the second period, using a 13-4 run to open up a 16-point lead.

Moore had 14 of her points in the second half, making 7 of 9 shots, and Nevada held the Vikings to just seven field goals and 25 percent shooting over the final 20 minutes.

Robinson made five 3-pointers and added eight boards, and Nicole Williams led all players with 12 rebounds for the Nevada.

For the Vikings, Eryn Jones had 17 points and shot 4 of 7 from behind the arc. Cremer and Kelli Valentine each scored eight points.

Portland State (5-4) stays on the road for its next game, playing at BYU on Saturday, Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. PT.

NOTES: PSU's Courtney VanBrocklin led all players with five steals ... Cremer, a senior center, was 2 for 2 from behind the arc. It was the first time in her career that she made two 3-pointers in a game ... Jones has made four 3-pointers in two of the past three games ... Nevada outscored the Vikings 46-16 in the paint and outrebounded them 49-33.
