SEATTLE, Wash. - After battling to a 0-0 first half tie with SeattleU , the women's soccer team gave up two goals in the second half and fell to the Redhawks, 2-0. It marks the first time since 1993 that Portland State has lost to SU.
PSU earned three corner kicks in the first half, all taken by
Amanda Dutra, but were unable to take any shots off the chances.
Senior
Rachel Jarvis made three saves in the first half and did not allow a goal in her 45 minutes of play. Sophomores Dutra,
Amber Fenton and
Megan Martin all accumulated a shot during the contest. PSU did not put a shot on target in the match.
Kara Kuttler scored SeattleU's game-winner in the 59th minute. The Vikings last loss to SeattleU (9-4-0) was in Portland State's inaugural season, a 5-1 loss in 1993. The other five contests between the two teams ended in ties.
Portland State will return to its home confines for a pair of matches Oct. 8 and 10, the first time the Viks have played back-to-back matches at home in one weekend this season, against Eastern Washington and Montana. It also marks the beginning of PSU's Big Sky register.
