Soccer Exhibition Moved to Friday in Corvallis; Vikings Picked to Finish Sixth in Big Sky

PORTLAND, Ore. — The exhibition match between the Portland State and Oregon State women's soccer teams originally scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 5, has been postponed to Friday. Additionally, the location of the match will move to Corvallis with kickoff scheduled for 12:30 p.m.

The schedule change comes out of an abundance of caution for the heat and poor air quality in the Portland metro area.

The Vikings will officially open their season Thursday, Aug. 13, when they host in-state powerhouse Oregon at 7 p.m. at Hillsboro Stadium.

Wednesday also brought the release of the Big Sky Preseason Coaches Poll. Conference coaches picked the Vikings to finish sixth in the new 11-team conference.

Weber State and Idaho topped the poll. The Wildcats edged the Vandals with five first-place votes and 74 total points to earn the title of preseason favorites. The Vandals followed with four first-place votes and 70 total points.

Conference newcomer Utah Tech finished third in the poll with one first-place vote and 63 total points. Northern Arizona (60 points) and Eastern Washington (50 points) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, ahead of the Vikings.
