Yammile Picon Scores on Senior Day to Lead Vikings to 1-1 Draw with Eastern Washington

The Portland State women's soccer team earned their first tie in their last home game of the season Sunday, finishing the match 1-1 versus Eastern Washington.

Eight seniors were honored before the match for Senior Day: Kainani Jacang, Josie DeLine, Kamaria Hughes, Maya Wells, Yammile Picon, Renee Davis, Alexi Cataldi and Finley Crabtree.

Six minutes into the match, Eastern Washington scored off their very first shot, directly off a free kick. The rest of the first half stayed relatively even, with shots 6-4 in the Eagles' favor by the end of the half.

In the second half, Portland State stepped up, dominating the field offensively. Sydney Spotts put up a season-high three shots, followed by four more Viking attempts. Jacang had herself an impressive match as well, tying for first in shots with three and playing a physical, high-energy game.

In the 72nd minute, Picon scored off an exceptional one-timer, assisted by Kendel Johnson and Elle Frazier. The Eagles didn't manage a shot in the second half until 10 minutes left in the match, which Crabtree impressively punched out of the net.

The Vikings next take on Montana in their final match of the season on Thursday, Nov. 5, at 12 p.m. PT.
